For many business owners, the holiday season is bring with it an increased level of confidence in the economy. It appears to be in large part due to fuel prices and interest rates that have appeared to stabilize – at least for the time being.
The National City’s Midwest Small Business Confidence Index jumped almost 2 points to 66.6 in November representing the largest one-month jump in the history of the index. Some states that are particularly confident in the current state of the economy included Missouri (the highest), Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio. Due to recent problems in the auto industry, Michigan coming in with the lowest score was not a big surprise to many.
