As a small business owner, the idea of taking time off for a vacation doesn’t always fill us with excitement and anticipation. We tend to worry, even while on vacation, about our clients, what’s falling through the cracks, and what needs to be done. A recent survey by American Express appears to confirm that as well. In fact, 46% of owners say they worry most about jeopardizing a major client account by being away from the office. That’s up from 26% three years ago. With 59% of small-business owners and managers still having “little confidence” or “no confidence” that the economy will grow stronger in the next six months, the idea of taking a long vacation may remain a pipe dream for many small business owners.
